The French language – while silly and increasingly difficult for me to grasp – has cool little turns of phrase that our buffoonish English tongues lack the finesse to pronounce and creativity to conceive. For example, they have a hip new term “glou-glou”, which is onomatopoeia for the sound wine makes when it’s relentlessly poured from a bottle. Glou-glou’s are fresh, quaffable light reds made with low intervention and typically served with a slight chill. Folks, lemme tell ya: wine doesn’t get more glou-glou than Hurluberlu.
Hurluberlu is 100% Cab Franc from the Loire Valley, carbonically macerated and aged in concrete tanks, producing a fresh, fruity dry red perfect with tapas and light faire. It’s a wine you don’t have to think too hard about, which, I don’t know about you, but certainly appeals to me. More real estate to contemplate, which I really need. Why do you think I put it next to the register? Just grab it. Impulse buy. Go Glou Glou for Hurluberlu. |
