We will try to start this new year in a hopeful frame of mind, despite everything…We thought this wonderful wine would be an appropriate choice for a couple of reasons: It’s a perfect match for all sorts of hearty winter grub, especially stews and braised dishes. It is also from an estate that dates back to the 10th century in the same family, whose name comes from a place of pilgrimage visited by Provencal people in the middle ages who believed that the fountain on the property would protect them from the plague…We are not saying that the wine could be a solution to any viral issues, but it’s a nice thought that the estate perhaps has a curative history!
A blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah from 40 year old vines in the gorgeous environs of Sablet, this shows an intense purple color and aromas of morello cherry, blackberry and red fruit coulis. The palate is fleshy, round and shows hints of herbs and minerals to keep all the lovely fruit in check. This is a really complex red at a great price to help kick off a new voyage around the sun.
